What the Home Theater Process Looks like

We have many great clients in Parker, and we have this process worked out.

First you contact us requesting a quote for a home theater in Parker, and from there we ask a few questions to get a feel for what you are looking for. We will design a great home theater for your space, and then send you a bid.

From there, we can figure out what features you prioritize and then adjust the bid accordingly. Once the bid is approved, parts are ordered and work is scheduled.

Work is broken into a few steps:

  1. Design – This is all about making specific plans for what parts go where to stay in budget.
  2. Wiring – Devices work best when they are connected with high quality parts
  3. Trim – Once most construction is finished, we come back and put our wall plates and speakers into the wall.
  4. Product install – This is where the products such as projectors, receivers, Apple TVs, and whatever else you want gets put into place.
  5. Theater configuration – Turning everything on and adjusting speaker levels, projector alignment, and much more in order to ensure a great experience.
  6. Testing – All of our equipment is put through its paces to make sure your interactions are seamless with the technology.
  7. Final – We never leave a job site until you know EXACTLY how to operate everything. We will sit down for however long you need until you are satisfied that all is well.

How much does a home theater cost in Parker?

Home theaters have a large variance in price. The nature of a home theater is that depending on quality, prices can be fairly minimal or almost limitless.

There really is no ceiling in terms of home theater cost. If you wanted the very best of everything you would be looking at millions of dollars.

Without entering into poor experiences, a decent home theater is in the low five figures depending on choice of equipment and features.

Where should my money go?

Lets say you have a specific budget for your home theater.

Portions of that budget should go to certain things, so lets talk about some rules of thumb that will help you make decisions.

The projector

The projector should be a large portion of the cost of a home theater. Poor video quality is immediately noticeable during any viewing experience, and shouldn’t be skimped on.

I would expect it to be roughly 20-30% the cost of all of the hardware.

The Screen

The screen needs to be able to handle the output of your awesome projector. That means it can’t just be a bedsheet or painted wall. Screens have ways of generating better colors and deeper blacks than just a bedsheet, and perforated screens can make sound come from the image directly.

The screen should cost around 5-10% of the cost of your home theater.

Sound

Sound quality is often overlooked by many when building a theater. Some will choose the most inexpensive speakers and amplifier. At Savvy Life AV, we believe a theater needs to sound great in order to generate the feel that you are looking for.

Sound should make up 30-40% of the total cost of a theater.

Sources

The sources of your theater is what actually produces the content. Here are some examples:

  • Apple TV
  • 4k Blue Ray Player
  • Game Consoles
  • Roku
  • Amazon Fire Stick
  • Local Media Server.

Choose a few of these sources, and they should make up less than 5% of your total cost.

Control System

Although Control Systems are optional, they are a great way to take a theater to the next level. Here are some great options for control systems:

  • Savant
  • Control 4
  • Smart Assistants
  • Josh AI

Each of these options can create really great results. Control systems can cost anywhere between 0 and 10% of your total theater cost.

Furniture and Design

The seating and look of your theater are more important than you think. Spending a bit of your budget on a great aesthetic is important, and can lead to an even better experience. Some great examples are:

  • Theater Seating
  • Sound Treatment (Soundproofing panels)
  • Movie Posters
  • Snack Bar
  • Controllable Lighting
  • Great Movie Posters and Paraphernalia

If you have an interior designer, this is a perfect time to reach out to them and see what they would do with the space.

This is the largest variable, as it is more important to some people than others. Furniture and design can cost anywhere from 5 to 30% of the total budget.

Entertainment

Clear video and distinct sound, all with a seamless look.

Communication

Connection to the internet is critical for our daily lives, and acts as a backbone to all that we do. We leave nothing to chance.

Automation

Shades, lights, garage doors, thermostats, etc. Complete control at your fingertips.

Security

Cameras, locks, motion sensors, doorbell cameras and more all integrated into your phone and computer.
